My Mark On The World
Last week I finished my series on my babies birthing experience. It took me a very long time to write. It is amazing how hard it is to keep any kind of schedule when you have twins. How two tiny little people can need so much is amazing... and absolutely wonderful. I used to wonder what the purpose of my life was. I always wanted to do something good for people and worried I would not be able to make a difference in the world. I no longer wonder. I know, without a doubt, that the purpose of my life is those little sleeping babies in the other room. Through them I will leave my mark on the world.
It is not just my responsibility to keep them safe or to provide a good home for them, but to teach them how to live in a world that is constantly changing. The world today is so different from the world I grew up in. I have to not only figure out for myself how to adapt to this world, but I have to teach my boys how to do the same. To teach them to be better than our generation. Right now we have people all over the country were taking to the streets to riot and loot and destroy property all in the name of a cause. Their message may be just but their method is so wrong. I need to teach my boys to be strong and stand up for what is right but in a better way. I do have an opportunity to make a difference in the world, by teaching my children to be good and honest.
To help your neighbor and not to ever intentionally hurt someone.
To be strong and strong willed.
To peacefully and respectfully speak their minds.
To help someone in need.
To say a kind word or to smile at someone who seems like they are having a hard time.
To stand up to bullies and never, ever be the bully.
To never drink and drive and to stay away from drugs.
To treat women how they would want their mother (or maybe someday a sister) to be treated.
To treat everyone the way they would want to be treated.
To be good to each other and always stand by one another.
To work hard and find something they are passionate about.
To read real books and always strive to learn....
And a million and one other things.
I urge anyone who is reading this to remember that we have the opportunity to shape the world. By teaching our children to be better and kinder we can create a better and kinder world for us all...
